Hindsight is always easier then foresight so this now may sound obvious but what was missing from every SSRS tutorial I've come across is that if your creating rdlc style SSRS reports then at least in Visual Studio you can't use any of the projects in Business Intelligence in the Report section. You have to create a project for VB or C and it doesn't seem to matter what kind i. SSRS is or at least in the past has been a very poor substitute for Crystal with it being unable to handle many custom reporting task that were child play in Crystal.
